It was a warm, rainy fall day yesterday, full of mists and mellow fruitfulness — and puddles. When I got home Vivian greeted me with a huge “Mom-Mom!” Then I was led by the hand into the living room and commanded to “si down.” But when I ask Vivi if she wanted to go puddle jumping, she changed her mind about whatever she was going to have me do and scurried off to find her boots — exclaiming “puddle yumping!” in a “no, really, could I?” sort of voice.
She could and she did.

I wish all children were blessed with mothers who encouraged puddle yumping.
