Corrina locks her door

(a riff on Ovid, Amores I:VII)

Darling I've come
with wine and wreathed in flowers
I've come unarmed
Open the door.

It's me and Love
He has the only weapon
Love's knife is at my throat
Open the door.

Are you asleep --
for sleep's no friend to Love --
or with some other man?
Open the door.

The night goes on
I'm stiff with waiting for you
The dewy night goes on
Open the door.

I have a torch
Love and wine are fearless
I'm taking off the flowers
Open the door.
