We love it, but ...

A reply from an agent who was considering repping Sir Gawaine and the kids poems. I am both happy and frustrated:

Thank you for allowing me to read and consider representing your work. I have read Sir Gawaine and your monster poems several times. I admire both, and have wracked my brains trying to think of where I could offer them for you. Poetry is such a hard genre to place. In the end I have had to face the fact that I seriously doubt I could be successful for you, and so am declining handling your work -- with huge regret. Best wishes in finding an agent who can be successful for you.

(This is not is not the same agent who wants to look at Plain Kate when it's done.)

Super-Crazy idea. I *know* they write, but see if They Might Be Giants would be willing to put your monster poems to music. We have their album for kids "No!", it's wonderfully funny.

p.s. keep trying. At least the agent was honest.

Have you thought about sending a sample to Denis Lee? He has helped other poets before.

I like Dr Meglet's idea. You had a thought about setting some of your Psalms to jazz. Maybe linking up with music is the way to go with the kid poems.
