Walk in the snow

After the cold a sunny day ... I took James's new digital camera out, put on my hiking boots and two pairs of pants, and walked out into my "scrap patch under the powerline," a little-used patch of city trail a block from my house. Quiet and bright and brisk, not brutal. I'm feeling better.

I've sometimes wanted to learn more about photography, but I don't even own a camera. Digital has its weaknessness, I'm sure -- no texture in any of these photographs -- but I think one could learn a lot about composition, fast, this way, as a mirror helps you learn to wiggle your ears, through instant feedback.
