(there is an oracle in my heart)

there is an oracle in my heart
     a pool reflecting

poisonous I am poisoned
proud am paralyzed
timid, shut
     in trembling

like a little lake holding mountains
my heart -- Oh

I am too little for this
Lord, let me
come into your house

like a child
      taking off my shoes

Psalm 36

_______________

A revision of this poem. I did it while putting together my application for the Canada Council grant. Anyone want to read 20 pages of this stuff and tell me what they think? (Not about the individual poems, so much, as about how the manuscript comes together.) Let me know!
