Oo, proofs

The proofs for Ghost Maps came! Looks like we won't have to cut poems, as feared -- Maria says getting it to 88 pages was "surprisingly painless."

To manage this miracle, the six section headings do not get their own pages, but go above the first poem in each section. Rats. I liked those mostly blank pages. I like the full pause they give. It's the moment of stillness at the top of a swing. A chance to get a breath, in a book that can be intense enough to take breath. But the alternative is to cut poems, so I guess....

Oh, whine, whine. Let me get back to doing the dance of the forthcoming book.
